My Kind of Zoo

Campaign passes $135 million!

Thanks to the extraordinary philanthropic gifts and the support of all those who love the zoo, My Kind of Zoo, The Campaign for Lincoln Park Zoo has exceeded its $125 million goal and raised more than $135 million! This historic Campaign will continue through the summer of 2005 in an effort to build the zoo’s endowment fund and ensure the strong financial future of Chicago’s free zoo.

Three of the Campaign’s four principal projects are now open: The Farm-in-the-Zoo Presented by John Deere, Regenstein African Journey and Regenstein Center for African Apes. Renovations to the Flamingo and Polar Bear Habitats are also complete.

Construction is underway at the Pritzker Family Children’s Zoo, a state-of-the-art facility that will redefine how children learn from and experience the zoo. The exhibit will immerse the zoo’s youngest visitors, along with their families, caregivers and teachers, in a faithful re-creation of the vast wooded acres that once surrounded our Great Lakes.

In addition, the Campaign will continue to address the zoo’s highest priority: raising $35 million for the zoo’s endowment fund. Generous gifts to build a viable endowment for Lincoln Park Zoo have already enabled new initiatives, such as the zoo’s Field Conservation Program, to become reality.

As the Campaign continues, Lincoln Park Zoo will reach out to more and more people to help achieve the most ambitious fund-raising goal in its history. We thank you for making possible our progress to date and hope that everyone will want to join in supporting Everybody’s Zoo.
