Docent Tours

Docent tours are available daily at 10 and 11 a.m. School tours are free and are available from the beginning of September through mid-April. The cost for other groups is $5.00 per person. There is a limit of 40 participants per zoo tour. During the tour, each group of 10 participants is provided with a zoo educator who facilitates student observations. Tours are 30–45 minutes.

Choose from the following topics:

Animals on the Move

For grades K–2 or youth groups with children ages 5–7

This tour highlights swimming, flying, crawling and jumping animals, with an emphasis on the features that help these animals move the way they do.

  

Predators & Prey

For grades 3–5, youth groups with children ages 8 and up, and adult audiences

Visit carnivores, herbivores, and omnivores to learn about food chains, special adaptations and the lifestyles of the hunter and the hunted.

Endangered Species

For grades 4–12, youth groups with children ages 9 and up, and adult audiences

Meet some of the world’s most endangered animals and learn why their survival in the wild is threatened. Participants will discuss what we can all do to help save these animals.
