Good Foods Program
Good Foods is a preventative program designed to help children learn the crucial role that healthy food and exercise choices will play in their lives. Teacher workshops were held at the zoo for kindergarten–fourth-grade educators serving under-resourced Chicago Public Schools.

These workshops provided educators with skills and resources enabling them to use the zoo, coupled with children’s natural interest in animals, to teach children how to make healthy living choices. Topics included “Where our Food Comes From,” “Nutrition at the Zoo” and “Making Realistic Healthy Food Choices.”

Thanks to generous support from Grant Healthcare Foundation, the zoo was able to offer this program to 75 teachers and a free bus to the zoo was provided for each of their classrooms!
