Celebra la Ciencia
Self Reliance Foundation created Celebra la Ciencia (Celebrate Science) to increase Hispanic family participation in science and health education programs. Celebra la Ciencia establishes working relationships and collaborations between local museums, community organizations, businesses, schools, colleges and universities, and the media. Together, these groups provide access to informal science activities through hands-on family science events and demonstrations at local festivals while also providing information about career opportunities in science, technology and biomedical research. In 2006, Lincoln Park Zoo hosted the “Our Future: Latino Youth Recognition Event” honoring Latino middle-school student accomplishments at the 56th Annual Chicago Public Schools Student Science Fair.
