South Pond Educational Loan Kits
Chicago teachers can bring pond lessons into their classrooms through educational loan kits developed by the zoo’s Education staff. Kits covering pond ecology, birding and water quality are avail able, with each containing curriculum for early childhood through high school.

Educational loan kits are free to borrow and can also be used by parents to supplement home-schooling lessons. They contain activities for both in-class lessons and site visits to the South Pond at Lincoln Park Zoo.

South Pond Educational Loan Kits have been made possible by grants from the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency, BP and Peoples Energy.

Education Inclusion Initiative
The Education Inclusion Initiative is a two-year project funded through the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS). This important project will evaluate education programming in four targeted areas (public lectures, docent training, curiosity carts and the Malott Family Zoo Intern Program) to make them more accessible and engaging to young children and students and adults with disabilities.

This project will create new opportunities for people with disabilities in the zoo’s most important and popular education programs, resulting in a wider overall circle of inclusion.
