Jason Williams, Ph.D., Nutrition Manager
Jason
Williams received his bachelor's degree from California State University,
Fresno in Pre-veterinary Science and later received a master's
in nutrition and a Ph.D. in animal nutrition from Texas A&M University
in College Station. He became the nutrition manager
at Lincoln Park Zoo in September of 2003. Williams’ responsibilities include the proactive formulation and review of
animal diets by using ration balancing software. He is also
responsible for the continued expansion of nutritional quality-control
programs through the implementation of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control
Points (HACCP) food safety protocols. He is a member of the American Zoo and Aquarium Association’s Nutrition Advisory
Group (NAG) and a member of the NAG steering committee.
Williams serves as a nutrition co-adviser for both the callimico
and clouded leopard Species Survival Plans and is a member of
the Lincoln Park Zoo research committee.
