The Medical Advisory Committee meets three to four times annually for case presentations, and newsletters are circulated between meetings for research and clinical updates.

Jeff Visotsky, M.D., F.A.C.O.S., Center for Orthopedic Surgery, Lincoln Park Zoo Medical Advisory Committee member.

Dr. Visotsky consults with veterinarians on orthopedic (skeletal) cases. In addition to providing loans of necessary diagnostic equipment, such as the fluoroscopy (moving radiographs) unit in this picture, he also assists with surgical procedures for some complex skeletal cases. This specific case involved a juvenile DeBrazza's monkey that was born with a rotation of the foot; using the fluoroscopy, it was diagnosed that the infant had misshaped bones within the foot structure rather than a break or actual rotation of the bones. As the animal grew, the strength of the remaining normal leg permitted him to move without lameness.
